NACC NRM’s Sustainable Agriculture Facilitator plays a pivotal role as a central contact for farmers, landholders, grower groups, community groups, and agricultural industries to access relevant information and programs in climate-smart, sustainable agriculture. This allows for the facilitating of partnerships and connections around the sustainable agriculture priorities:
- Reducing emissions and building resilience to climate change
- Harnessing opportunities in carbon and biodiversity markets
- Implementation of industry sustainability frameworks
- Adoption of sustainable natural resource management practices to protect and conserve natural capital and biodiversity
The Sustainable Agriculture Facilitator (SAF) is funded and supported by the Australian Government as part of the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program (CSAP) under the Natural Heritage Trust.
NACC NRM’s SAF joins a national network of SAFs under the government initiative, and is engaged under NACC NRM’s Sustainable Agriculture Program, led by the Sustainable Agriculture Coordinator. The SAF shares similarities with NACC NRM’s recently completed RALF (Regional Agricultural Landcare Facilitator) which wrapped up in 2023.
NACC NRM’s Sustainable Agriculture Facilitator is Katrina Sasse.
Katrina has a background in agriculture, having spent the last 15 years in the Agriculture industry managing her family farm, running a cropping business, and working in Corporate Agribusiness Finance. Katrina was also Chair of the Morawa Farm Improvement Group from 2016 – 2021, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the NACC NRM team.
Katrina is based out of the NACC NRM Enterprise Hub in Geraldton and currently works Mondays and Thursdays. Outside of these hours, queries can be directed to Sustainable Agriculture Program Coordinator Callum Love.
