NACC NRM is pleased to announce our Sustainable Agriculture team will be leading the next phase of the Geraldton Regional Node for the South-West WA Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub (SW WA Hub) into 2025 and 2026.
The SW WA Hub, led by the Grower Group Alliance (GGA) is one of eight hubs in Australia that has received vital funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund (FDF) to provide regionally focused information and support to develop, extend and encourage the adoption of drought resilient technologies and practices that will support farmers and communities to better prepare for drought.
Regional Nodes have been established in various locations across the South-West including in Merredin, Esperance, Narrogin, Albany, Manjimup, Bunbury and Carnarvon. As the Regional Node Lead for the SW WA Hub, we are driven to provide localised guidance on priority issues in our region so that SW WA Hub is informed of factors impacting drought and climate resilience in our region. We capitalise on the knowledge, expertise and network through our Sustainable Agriculture Program to:
- Gather priorities, seasonal issues, strategic issues, emerging issues affecting producers in the region for the SW WA Hub
- Attend the Mid-west and Gascoyne Coastal and Wheatbelt Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) meetings
- Develop and maintain communication channels between Region’s stakeholders fostering collaboration
- Harnessing opportunities for drought or dry season projects within the Region
- Transferring ideas for drought or dry season tools, resources, technologies.
- Extending news, links, resources and other information to our stakeholders from the SW WA Hub
- Assist the SW WA Hub in the delivery of activities such as through demonstrations or events
- Capturing ideas from events in our region and transmitting those back to the FDF through the SW WA Hub
- Participating in FDF and SW WA Hub meetings, workshops, demonstrations, field days or conferences
- Conducting surveys and obtaining narratives from producers in the region
