Are You a Primary School student living in the NACC NRM region with a flair for words?
NACC is calling on all primary school teachers and students with a keen eye for storytelling to put pen to paper and take part in our Feral Fix: Enviro-Stories project.
The project involves schools from across the region learning more about the feral animals and weeds that are impacting our native species and sensitive landscapes, and then writing a biodiversity-themed short story focusing on what they have learnt.
The task requires a 15-page illustrated storybook to be completed during Semester Two this year and Semester One in 2018. The stories will then be published into a “school reader” and uploaded onto the Enviro-Stories Virtual Library.
The Enviro-Stories program has been designed to link-in with multiple elements of the Year 3-6 Australian Curriculum outcomes, and by taking part in the story writing component of the program, teachers can tick-off multiple outcomes with their students – depending on how they incorporate Enviro-Stories into their program.
Key outcomes are included in the English and Visual Arts subjects, while other outcomes come under Science and Geography. Cross-curricular priorities can also be achieved.
