One of our fantastic partner organisations, Yarra Yarra Catchment Management Group, recently held a Red Card Red Fox feral animal shoot with outstanding results.
The competition stakes were high and the community was keen so on the weekend of the February 17 and 18, three teams took part in the shoot and came back with some interesting results. Rabbit and cat numbers were up from last year which was interesting after reports that the rabbits were again becoming active.
In total there were 34 foxes, 12 cats and 19 rabbits culled.
Each year during this event, a Feral Pest Champion Trophy is awarded and on this occasion the winners, with a total of 440 points, were from “The Pussy Collectors” – a team made up of W Brooks, K Pohl, B Mason, C Craig and R Machin. Congratulations on the win.
