Have you heard about NACC NRM’s Fishing Float Survey project? This project aims to minimise fishing related litter, a dominant source of marine debris, by reporting and tracking items washed up along the Northern Agricultural Region’s coastlines.
As with many environmental conservation missions, cleaning up our coast is only possible with the help of the community. If you find (or have previously found) whole or partial fishing floats washed up along our region’s coastline, NACC NRM’s Coastal & Marine team would love to hear from you!
The following details are required for each float found:
- All float letters and numbers, or as much as is legible
- Location found, or nearest town
- A date, or rough guess, of when the float was found
- Amount of rope attached, if any
- Any other relevant information.
A prize of $100 will be awarded to the person with the most amount of completed submissions across 2024/2025.
Please submit your data by filling out our survey.
