It’s official! The Geraldton Coastcare Group has been renamed and will now be known as the Batavia Coastcare Network.
The new name was decided upon by the group’s committee to better incorporate Geraldton’s long stretch of coastline and the large network of Coastcare community members and groups within the region, that help protect our local beaches.

With help from the Department of Planning’s Coastwest Grant Program, the Batavia Coastcare Network is currently designing its own website, logo and Facebook page – so watch this space for more news on these fronts.
Batavia Coastcare Network Chair Dr Mic Payne said: “I am really excited to be a part of this new community group that has so many passionate people putting their hand up to be on the committee or contribute in one way or another. I am confident the group will play a key role in inspiring and empowering the Geraldton community to get more involved in the sustainable management of our beautiful coastline.”
Dr Payne said the group’s objectives are yet to be formalised, “but you can be assured that fun coastal restoration activities are on the horizon,” he said.
