Waggrakine Primary School would like to thank Northern Agricultural Catchments Council for their National Tree Day grant.
NACC generously supplied native plants for Waggrakine Primary School students to participate in National Schools Tree Day.
The area along the side of the bike track received a gorgeous makeover with students planting their selected tree or shrub, and watering them with ‘upcycled’ watering cans made in Primary Science classes.
A photo of each student was placed next to their plant so growth and change of their own special contribution to our school can be monitored over time.
The project was run over several days and both primary and secondary students were involved. The trees are off to a fantastic start, thanks to winter rain, afternoon sunshine and a thick layer of mulch.
Research shows that time in nature helps us thrive as individuals- physically, intellectually, emotionally, mentally, and ethically.
This project is supported by the Northern Agricultural Catchments Council through funding from the Australian Government National Landcare Program.
