#ThreatenedSpecies of the Week: Thank you Gregory

On behalf of everyone at NACC, our local community and the amazing species that call our region home – we would like to say a big THANK YOU to Australia’s first Threatened Species Commissioner, Gregory Andrews.

You have brought a renewed energy and focus to the growing number of native flora and fauna in Australia facing extinction and the conservation efforts helping to address the issue. We have achieved a lot together #SavingSpecies over the past couple of years, largely due to the energy that you have brought to many WA-based conservation projects.

The NACC team in particular would like to acknowledge your support in getting the inaugural (now biannual) WA Threatened Species Forum off the ground in 2015, and your on-going support for threatened species conservation in our region ever since.

Our CEO, Richard McLellan, was particularly ‘chuffed’ to receive your “Hero in the Fight against Extinction” award – “for efforts in protecting and promoting Australia’s animals and plants” which you presented to him last month.

Thank you for your passion, and all of the effort that you have put towards protecting our threatened species. Best of luck in your new role and we look forward to meeting and working with the new Commissioner.

Together we can win the fight against extinction.
