With New Year 2017 almost upon us (how did that happen so fast?), it’s a good time to reflect on the last 12 amazing months of natural resource management in the NACC NRM region.
For many of us, the best news of the year has been the solid rainfall recorded over the course of the year – which has contributed to some best-ever crops on farms, some much-needed fill-up for parched patches of bush, and timely watering for Land- and Coastcare revegetation projects. For me, another of the bonus outcomes was one of the best wildflower seasons seen in the Mid West for many years.
It’s certainly been a great year for NACC, and indeed for all of the partner groups and individuals who work with us to protect, manage and restore our region’s physical environment.
I have nothing but admiration for all of the people who work in NRM in our region, and for the hundreds of volunteers who put in thousands of hours every year to advance land and sea stewardship.
One of these #PeopleOfNRM is Jill Wilson, who is stepping-down as the Chair of NACC at the end of the year, more here.
Jill has been an integral part of NACC since our foundation, and indeed even before then – as she was instrumental in the formation of our first iteration (remember NAIMS?) in the mid-1990s.
Jill has since put-in countless hours in various roles, for various organisations, and has made an outstanding contribution to the region’s sustainability.
I’d personally like to thank Jill for all that she has done for NACC over the years, and am pleased to note that she won’t be leaving the region, that she will continue to farm here, to be a member of NACC (and a handful of other local landcare and sustainable agriculture production groups), and to share her invaluable and immense amount of knowledge and experience. Thanks Jill.
Finally, thanks to everyone else who has worked for or supported NACC and our work over the past 12 months.
We have achieved much together, and set ourselves up for an even-better 2017. I’m looking forward to that!
I hope you all have a safe and joyous festive season and new year, and look forward to our ongoing and productive collaboration.
