The local spring field day is nothing be to sneezed at so pull on your boots on, pack your handkerchief and head on out in to the sunshine.
As Spring is in full swing so too are the Spring Field Days with our Regional Agricultural Landcare Facilitators (RALFs) Lizzie King and Annabelle Garratt out and about at a number of the local events in the Northern Agricultural Region.
During these events the NACC NRM RALF team have been busy talking to Grower Groups, Landcare Groups, community members and industry alike, about the latest and greatest in the agricultural industry.
One of the many highlights during the field days include the GRDC National Variety Trials (NVT). The NVT is a national program of comparative crop variety testing with standardised trial management, data generation, collection and dissemination. It also gives some indications of how new varieties stack up against the old faithful varieties.
Lizzie said that Spring field days also provide a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, check out trial sites in your area and hear about new and emerging grain varieties, chemicals and fertilizers.
“They’re also great days to liaise with industry representatives and crop breeders to discuss needs in the sustainable agriculture space.”
Annabelle added that if you are lucky enough to be in the vicinity of a grower group or local Farm Improvement Group, we thoroughly recommend getting involved with them.
“If you aren’t familiar with your local group some of them include; Liebe Group, Mingenew Irwin Group, Morawa Farm Improvement Group, Mullewa Dryland Farmers Initiative, Northern Agri Group, West Midlands Group and Yuna Farm Improvement Group.”
