Rounds of funding for our coast

Christmas may have been and gone, but there are still plenty of opportunities to give a gift to Western Australia’s dynamic coastline!

The Department of Planning’s Coastwest grants are now available for community groups and coastal land managers to undertake on-ground or capacity-building activities that will contribute to the long-term management of the coastal environment.

Also available to coastal managers are grants from the Coastal Management Plan Assistance Program (CMPAP) which aims to build capacity for local coastal managers to effectively identify, understand and adapt sustainably to coastal challenges.

Applications for both of these grant schemes will close at 12 noon Tuesday, 21 March 2017.

For further information, applicants are encouraged to contact Coastwest at coastwest@planning.wa.gov.au or regional facilitator, NACCs Coastal Marine Program Coordinator Mic Payne at Michael.Payne@nacc.com.au.

NACC’s Coastal Quick Step grants are also still open and available to community groups that want to undertake small coastal restoration or capacity-building projects in their area.

In recent months, NACC has funded and supported two projects within the Northern Agricultural Region, and approved another two to proceed.

Applications are accepted throughout the year for projects of up to $2,000. The guidelines, including the application form, can be found on the NACC website.
