Is soil acidity an issue in perennial pastures?
To take a closer look, a preliminary study was undertaken by Evergreen Farming across 20 farms in the Northern Agricultural Region (NAR).
Under the study, supported by NACC, two paddocks on each farm were chosen with five sites within each paddock. Results showed that top and sub-soil acidity is commonly found in perennial pastures in the NAR.
NACC Carbon Farming Coordinator Sarah Jeffery said further research was needed to investigate the total impact of soil acidity on perennial pastures.
