Documentation and transfer of Traditional Ecological knowledge
NACC recognises the unique understanding and management skills that Aboriginal people have in supporting the region’s natural resources, and is committed to collaborate and meaningfully engage with Aboriginal people in order to increase Aboriginal participation in NRM within the region.
The Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) of Aboriginal people is valuable in enhancing the ways we care for our environment. NACC is working alongside Aboriginal landowners, managers and Traditional Owners to encourage the re-invigoration and use of TEK to improve conservation outcomes and protect cultural heritage.
Aboriginal involvement in NRM is recognised to improve the biodiversity of ecosystems in the NAR and strengthen social and economic outcomes across the region.
