NACC Photo Competition 2016

The NACC 2016 Photography Competition: ‘Nature in Focus’ has been extended! Applications now close 31 May 2016.

Are you snap-happy and love photographing our beautiful region? Then this is a competition you won’t want to miss out on.

The Northern Agricultural Catchments Council (NACC) has just launched its 2016 photo competition ‘Nature in Focus’ which is open to all residents within the Northern Agricultural Region, stretching  from Gingin to Kalbarri, Dalwallinu to Mullewa, and all points between.

NACC last ran a photo competition in 2014, which attracted a lot of interest, and more than 150 photo entries.

The 2016 Prizes to be won

1st Prize – Luxury Holiday Package for two in beautiful Kalbarri
3 luxury nights accommodation at the Kalbarri Edge Resort. Including breakfast daily and chocolates and wine on arrival.
2nd Prize – Sea Lion Snorkel Safari Tour in Jurien Bay
3rd Prize – Annual All Parks Pass (1 year unlimited access)

The 2016 categories for Nature in Focus

This year there are five categories to enter:

  • “Caring for our coast” – showcasing how people look after and enjoy the coastal environment.
  • “Totally wild” – focussing on plants and animals in the region.
  • “Aboriginal connection to country” – showing what connection to country and culture means to you.
  • “Keeping it green” – demonstrating what people do to reduce their carbon footprint.
  • “A farming future” – showcasing sustainable farming .

Photographing the natural environment is a great way to encourage people to gain a better understanding of how beautiful our environment is, and how important it is to protect it.

The environment here is under threat from so many factors, including climate change, habitat loss and feral animals endangering the region’s native plants and animals.

Hi
Is it mandatory for an entrant to live in the area the photo was taken or is it permitted that the entrant can reside outside the area?
Thank you in advance,
Jason

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your message. No you do not need to be living in the areas which your pictures have been taken. There only requirement is that your pictures are taken within the Northern Agricultural Region.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Alexia

does that mean you can be 18 or do you have to be under 18 as i am 18.

Hi Guy! Anyone can enter the competition at any age. But we will have a prize for the best photo taken by someone under the age of 18. So if you are already 18 then no, sorry, you wont qualify for for that prize. But will definitely qualify for the main prizes. I look forward to seeing your entry!
