Following a year-long project, NACC NRM has secured a permanent home in Geraldton to accommodate its operational team and deliver financial sustainability.
The purchase of the former MBA Building at 4 Walton Close, Geraldton was announced on Tuesday at NACC NRM’s Annual General Meeting. NACC NRM’s CEO Katherine Allen with Chair Elisabeth McLellan at the new building.
NACC NRM’s incoming Chair Ms Elisabeth McLellan said the purchase was made possible by the organisation’s strong financial performance.
“This investment is testimony to the work done by the board and management in recent years to ensure NACC NRM can weather any storm,” she said.
“This crucial asset will generate ongoing revenue and deliver financial security for NACC NRM, allowing it to focus on its many projects and initiatives to manage and restore the natural environment in our region.
“We look forward to realising the benefits this modern facility will deliver to our staff and to the wider community.”
NACC NRM will put its interactive exhibition Little Footprint, Big Picture – previously on show at the Museum of Geraldton – on display at the new building.
The existing training rooms at 4 Walton Close will remain available for hire to community groups, businesses and the general public.
Ms McLellan acknowledges and thanks the Board of NACC NRM, in particular the outgoing Chair, Dr Robert Keogh. Dr Keogh has been instrumental in guiding the procurement of the building, which will be a fitting legacy of his careful stewardship since 2015.
