Marieke Jansen is the new Natural Resource Management Officer (NRMO) based at the Shire of Chapman Valley office in Nabawa.
She has been working in NRM for almost 8 years in different roles and will be servicing the Shires of Northampton, Chapman Valley and the northern part of the City of Greater Geraldton.
Marieke moved from Holland to a mixed farming property between Northampton and Nabawa about 10 years ago.
“I’m feeling very lucky to be able to work in my own backyard so to speak. This region has some real hidden gems and the people are passionate about preserving the land for the next generation.“
Marieke says she really likes working directly with land managers on on-ground projects that have a direct benefit to the environment and have a win-win outcome for all parties involved.
She aims to keep the local community informed about NACC projects as well as providing technical advice on any NRM issues.
NACC’s CEO Richard McLellan commends Chapman Valley Shire President John Collingwood, CEO Maurice Battilana, and the rest of the council and staff of the Shire, for their initiative and offer to host one of NACC’s NRMO’s and is looking forward to many successful collaborations in the future.
Marieke will be in the office Tuesday’s till Thursday’s. You can contact her on (P) 9920 5011 (E) Marieke.firstname.lastname@example.org.
