NACC and the Birdlife Midwest-Geraldton group recently took part in National Bird Week – by hosting the biggest Citizen Science project (the Aussie Backyard Bird Count).
An enthusiastic group of the NACC team, members of the Birdlife Midwest-Geraldton and wider community members travelled across Geraldton to survey common bird species at four “backyard” locations.

During the day, an amazing 39 different bird species and 307 birds were sighted and recorded. The group spent 20 minutes surveying each location and all data collected on the day will be added to a vital pool of information from across the nation to help see how Australian birds are faring.
