Community at the heart of centres

Over the years, the NACC team have received amazing support from our local community.

Not only from the hundreds of people who volunteer their time each year to jump on board with caring for our environment, but also through local media organisations, especially Community Resource Centres across the Northern Agricultural Region, that help spread some of these amazing stories.

NACC relies on these services to be able to communicate effectively between Kalbarri and Gingin, along the coast and out east of Dalwallinu. Without your continued support and generosity, NACC would not be able to reach out to land holder, farmers, community groups and individuals to help promote natural resource management and encourage caring for our country.

Coastal and Marine Project Officer Hamish Longbottom who has worked alongside some of the region’s centres said: “All Community Resource Centres are important partners for NACC, assisting us to get our messages and achievements out to the broader community through these local newspapers,” he said.

“Articles in the local media have proved to be a powerful media tool in the community and it’s important to acknowledge the efforts of all Community Resource Centres, who’s staff often go above and beyond in assisting us to get our messages and achievements out.

“We are lucky to be involved with organisations that have the community’s interest at heart and value the contribution of local people involved in conservation activities; so a massive ‘Thank You’ goes to you.”

To help ensure Community Resource Centres continue to provide their fantastic services across the region, the State Government has recently announced its commitment to inject $56 million into all WA Community Resource Centres over the next four years.

The funding boot has been made possible by the Liberal National Government’s Royalties for Regions Program. Read more about the funding announcement on the State Governments website.
