Boxthorn Blitzing

The African Boxthorn (Lycium ferrocissimum) is extremely resilient and persistent, however, so is our wonderful Geraldton community!

Over the past few weeks, NACC NRM’s Coastcare team has joined four community groups to host ‘Boxthorn Blitz’ workshops for the City of Greater Geraldton.

The workshops were hosted at Drummonds Cove, along with a celebration of the rehabilitation carried out at Rum Jungle (featuring a sea shanti or two, and a clean-up), Sunset Beach with Sunset Beach Community Group, Spalding Park with Chapman River Friends, and Cape Burney with Greenough River Friends.

Thank you to everyone who joined us across the events! We are overjoyed to see a community that is more present than the boxthorns.

These workshops, provided yearly by the City of Greater Geraldton, encourage community stewardship and educate best practice for controlling this invasive species.
