Part of the Australian Government’s Caring for Our Country program is the provision of a Regional Landcare Facilitator in each of the 56 Natural Resource Management (NRM) regions across Australia.
Within their region, each facilitator advocates for the protection and conservation of natural resources.
Based in Geraldton, NACC’s Regional Landcare Facilitator works alongside landholders, local community and volunteer groups in the Northern Agricultural Region (NAR) to increase the uptake of sustainable farming and land management practices including NRM.
The position promotes opportunities for networking and information sharing between groups, government agencies, schools and research bodies through field days, bus tours, case studies, media articles and regular newsletters.
By engaging with all sectors and sharing details of Government initiatives, news and events on environmental challenges, the Regional Landcare facilitator promotes the growing importance of protecting our natural resources across the NAR.
