Nominate an asset in the Northern Agricultural Region (NAR) you think is worth protecting.
In June 2012 NACC ran four community consultation workshops across to identify the region’s environmental assets. The workshops, facilitated by Eco Edge using the INFFER (Investment Framework for Environmental Resources) decision support process, were undertaken to update the existing Regional Natural Resource Management Strategy (2005). The development of the comprehensive 2005 strategy involved significant community, agency and other stakeholder consultation and is a credit to the region.
The recent round of workshops provided an opportunity for new information/assets that may not have been included in previous plans to be nominated for incorporation into the updated Regional Plan, scheduled for completion in 2013.
All assets identified in the workshops were also prioritised based on the local and technical knowledge provided by the participants who represented the local community, government agencies, industry groups and other stakeholders.
It is likely that additional assets would have been identified had there been wider representation from local communities (particularly landowners), government agencies and traditional owners. Therefore NACC calls upon members of the public to nominate an asset in the Northern Agricultural Region that you think is worth protecting.
