The peak body for the environment and natural resource management in the Mid West, the Northern Agricultural Catchments Council (NACC), is supporting Florabank in the running of the course.
Donna Rayner, Revegetation Officer, encouraged all seed collectors to enrol for the course which will run from 22 to 25 September in Geraldton.
“This four day course will focus on the professional aspects of seed collection and hopefully encourage people across WA to join the seed and revegetation industry,” said Ms Rayner.
“The course has been designed for people who have some prior seed collection experience who would like to improve their skills and knowledge and become accredited.
“Paul Macdonell, a CSIRO seed specialist, and a Greening Australia native seed specialist will present the course
“Feedback from previous Florabank courses around Australia has been terrific and we are pleased that we have been able to bring this course to the Mid West region.
“The flow on benefits from a course like this is obvious for our environment and the continuing biodiversity of our region.
“Individuals who elect to complete the take home project can be assessed for their Florabank Trained Collector certificate and the VET accredited Cert III “Manage Seed Collection”.
The course costs $1500 for the four days which covers all associated costs. The course is eligible for Farm Ready so course costs can be reimbursed for primary producers and indigenous land managers.
