The Northern Agricultural Catchments Council (NACC), the peak body for the environment and natural resource management in the Mid West, is supporting the Australian Sandalwood Network in bringing this workshop to Moora on Friday 14 August.
Euan Scott, Farm Forestry Development Officer, said the sandalwood workshop would provide an alternative crop to farmers in the Northern Agricultural Region.
“The aim of the day is to look at the basics of planning and establishing a sandalwood plantation in the Northern Ag region,” said Mr Scott.
“Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit a newly established plantation and look at the on ground considerations.”
“According to the Australian Sandalwood Network – sandalwood is the highest growth tree crop in the WA Wheatbelt, and over 10,000 hectares of plantations will have been established by the end of 2009.”
Plantation growth is being driven by private landowners, broad acre farmers, managed investment schemes and government programs.
The workshop begins at 9.30am for a 10:00am start at 1 Padbury Street Moora.
Please RSVP for the event by 31 July by contacting Bethan Lloyd on 9574 5882 or
